The Country Farmhouse was designed and built by my husband and I in 2009. It was a lifelong dream of mine to create a place where I could garden, have a hobby farm, raise my family, work from home, and entertain family and friends.

After spending the first few years finishing the inside of the house, I started designing the gardens. As a floral designer, I wanted to plant things that I could use in my arrangements. I also enjoy cooking and harvesting whatever I can grow from my own backyard. First, I planted a  kitchen herb garden and garden roses. Next, we built a chicken coop for my ladies. I now have a large vegetable garden, a pollinator garden, fruit trees, a succulent garden, and lots of boysenberries. In addition, I grow lots of lavender, dahlias, sweet peas, hollyhocks, sunflowers and many other flowers and squash from seeds that change with the seasons. There are also bee hives on the property, and I avoid using pesticides to ensure that my gardens are a sanctuary for all living things.

As my business Kareen’s Kreations grew, I began to host classes, tea parties, garden tours, and other events on my back porch and in my home. These are by appointment or reservation only. I also enjoy decorating my home for every holiday. Depending on the time of year, you can often find me working in the garden or designing in my kitchen. The Country Farmhouse is truly a passion, and I love that connection with the natural world and gathering place that I’ve created here!
